An upmarket Chinese restaurant in
the City of Angels.
Venue

Mei Jiang is located on the Garden Level of one of the City of Angels’ 5-star hotels, The Peninsula Bangkok. The layout of the room is that of elegance and charm. The tables are set perfectly, and much attention is devoted to detail. I chose to sit near the floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the garden and river. It’s the kind of place where you would want to put in the effort to dress up a bit.
Food

I opted for the Dim Sum Set Lunch. There are three choices to select from, including a vegetarian option called, Wellness. I had the Prosperity set which started off with a bang. The first course was the Chef’s Dim Sum Selection (five various types). This did not disappoint and left me feeling eager to see what more was to come. To my dismay though, I felt disappointed with the next two courses.

The Soup of the Day was nothing special, and so too the stir-fried noodles. To be honest, it lacked some flavor and could have been better.

For dessert, I changed mine to the Ginger Milk Pudding with Puff Pastry. Although this was on a different set menu, they were happy to accommodate me with the change. The pudding was better than the two previous dishes.
In my opinion, I would say that the selection of dim sums and dessert are worth looking forward to. The drinks are a bit pricey, but you also have to take into account the type of place you’re dining at.
Service

I couldn’t fault them on their impeccable service. They were attentive, friendly and well informed about their menu. I appreciated how the staff would describe the dishes as they were presented.
