I urge you to pay this restaurant a visit if you’re in Chiang Rai. What a wonderful place with great staff and delectable food. I’ve been living in Bangkok for a few years now and it’s hard to find a place as unique as this one – and for such great value! In fact, it’s one of the best places I’ve dined at in Thailand!

It’s situated along the Kok River and you have to drive through some backstreets to actually get to the restaurant, but when you arrive you will immediately be impressed; from the car park to the restaurant this place surprises you every step of the way. It’s like stepping into another world with it’s colonial type buildings and warm ambiance if you go at night. You really don’t get the feeling of being in The Land of Smiles. The tables are simple yet elegant with candles, and of course a beautiful view of the river to make you feel more relaxed while listening to suitable background music.

From the moment we were greeted, we were served with such professional and sincere service by the staff. They spoke and understood English very well and were always ready to meet the needs of their guests.

The food and drinks were also of a high standard and tasted like it was made from quality ingredients. TIP: if you order the Lanna Sausage platter, it’s more than enough for two!
Overall, their menu was is reasonably priced considering the beautiful location and everything else that comes with it.

My only regret is only being able to visit Chivit Thamma Da once, but I will definitely be back on my next visit to Chiang Rai.
