Bang Nam Pheung Floating Market

Bang Nam Pheung Floating Market

When you visit Thailand, on the top of the must-do activities is to go to one of the floating markets. It’s like nothing you’ve seen before and truly an unforgettable experience. The only downside is that it’s a 3-4 hour drive from Bangkok just to get to the famous Damnoen Saduak or Amphawa floating markets. However, there are other alternatives closer to the capital city and my favorite to date is Bang Nam Pheung Floating Market (approximately less than one hour from the CBD) making it both.

Will it be the same as Damnoen Saduak? Probably not because there are very few boats in the water and it’s more of a walking market, but it does have a lot to offer visitors. It’s popular among locals, which means that you won’t get overcharged on your shopping spree! Besides shopping, there are also a few quaint places to have a good cup of coffee at or Thai cuisine. One of the things I love most is the refreshing foliage and relaxed atmosphere – there’s even a temple to see!

The market is only opened on weekends from 8am-2pm. If you have more time to spare, there are also bike tours at a small cost available to explore the rural area or the very special Green Lung of Bangkok.

Overall, the market is very small in comparison to the more popular ones outside of Bangkok. But it still makes for a great day out!

I’ll add this place to my list, great photos as always. I wanted to comment on another post you posted but this seems to be the only one I can post on. Maybe because I’m on my phone doing this? Anyway, love the blog and looking forward to seeing more 🙂

    1. Thanks a lot. If you go in the morning then I would recommend going as early as possible while it’s still calm and tranquil. 🙂 It’s great before the crowds get there.
